European council's Tusk says May's change of tone on Brexit is good news
- Constructive tone of PM's speech shows the idea of having her cake and eating it too on Brexit is coming to an end
- Brexit is about damage control and I have no changed my opinion
- Not sufficient progress yet on Brexit talks to move to next stage
I think these comments are more important than they seem. To me they show that EU leaders feel like they have some momentum and feel like they are wearing down Theresa May. She might be in a better position if she had stayed tough but that was almost impossible to do because of the sniping from her own party.
Tough to see how the UK comes out of all this with a good deal.
