The head of the eurogroup of finance ministers says that if Ireland meets its deficit reduction goals it can avoid using ESFS (European financial stability facility) funds.

Juncker says he is confident Ireland can meet those goals as planned by 2014.

The market is less sure, pushing the spread between Irish and German bonds has hit a life-time high above 550 basis points.
