Kirin & Suntory merger talks supports Nikkei

Kirin Holdings is nearly 10% higher this morning on the back of merger talks with Suntory Holdings. A merged entity would create the largest Japanese beer and soft drink company. The news has helped other brewers higher as well, with traders citing hopes for further consolidation in the sector.
