All quiet despite strong strong stock bid

EUR/USD has been trading firmly all afternoon but there has been next to no effort to push prices out of established ranges. EUR/USD finds offers in the low 1.3980s this afternoon, just shy of earlier 1.3992 tops from the London session. Most activity has been machine-to-machine for the balance of the US traders, say.
US equities are holding the bulk of their gains, nearly 2% firmer on the day. Oil is about $1.50 above session lows, now at $59.75.
