The UK is said to be considering joining the euro, the head of the EU Commission says.

Of course they have. The Chinese CB and SWF is a large part of the EURO Treasury. If the Chinese start dumping their Euro holdings, the Euro will go the way of the ECU. Does anyone remember the ECU?
Not so fond memories myself as I had the misfortune of attempting to trade its IMM futures.
