The European Commission has suggested a meeting of European countries affected by the problems facing US car maker General Motors.  EU industry commissioner Guenter Verheugen says it would be good to have a meeting so as to have a coordinated response to the crisis, rather than there being unilateral measures that could have harmful repurcussions elsewhere in Europe.  GM’s-related main production sites in the EU include Belgium, Germany, Spain, Poland, UK and Sweden.
