While in the US on Wednesday, the Australian PM Kevin Rudd has urged the US to work to integrate China into global governance. Given that China is well on its way to becoming the number 1 global economy at some stage down the track (maybe not in the next year or two, but give it 10-20 years and we will see) it is probably a good idea to let them have a little more say. Better to be nice to China now while they are on their way up, than waiting until they are number 1 and putting our hands out for help and expecting to be well received.
“I think China represents a huge opportunity for us all for the 21st century” and “The center of global economic gravity is moving to the Asia Pacific region” Mr Rudd was quoted as saying.
