Canadian jobs data weaker than expected

Canadian employment data has come in weaker than expected at -2.6k compared to median forecast of +20k. Unemployment rate steady at 8.5%, as forecast.

Canadian dollar has weakened post release, funds up at 1.0370 from around 1.0310.

    hmmm cad is getting slaughtered. was the number really that bad? its only 22k less than forecast and % was the same, doesnt seem huge to me?

    DC – This is what I’ve picked up: A 9.7K drop in manufacturing jobs led decline, offsetting gains in the service sector of +9.4K

    US service sector is very big isnt it? so from this, we would guess that the service sector in US probably also improved, which would likely give nfp a positive number? hmmm
