“Informal” meetings between Greek FM and IMF

After last week saying there would be no meeting between Greece and the IMF as the Greek leadership decended on Washington, today the IMF says there will be “informal” talks between Finance Minister Papaconatantinou and the IMF…Perhaps there will be some “technical” discussions as well…

    Sarkozy doesn’t want his presidential rival, imf’s strauss-kahn, empowered so this is, imo, just the Greek’s using that political leverage. The imf’s preferred solution is devaluation- and that isn’t an option here, unless greece leaves the euro. It’s most likely a political discussion.

    Maybe the Greek PM is also here to “informally” talk about the possibility of becoming one of the Feds “new” counterparties…
