–UK Feb House Prices Up 1.9% m/m; Up 9.7% On Year
————————————————————————
While other house price surveys have shown the rally in UK house
prices running out of steam, FT/Acadametrics latest survey shows it
continuing unabated. The average house transaction price in February was
1.9% up on the previous month according to FT/Acadametrics, the 10th
successive monthly increase. This left house prices up 9.7% on a year
ago. A couple of high profile house price surveys, those of the
Nationwide and Halifax, both showed sharp house prices falls in
February. The Nationwide reported house prices down 1% on the month in
February, and Halifax down 1.5%. Peter Williams, Acadametrics chairman,
said “We have a clear tension as to what is really happening in the
market.”
