JAPAN: We noted last week that besieged automaker Toyota recently turned
down union demands for increased bonuses and pay raises, now here comes
the other side of the coin. Nikkei News reports that Japan automaker
Honda has very quickly acceded to union demands for a bigger bonus,
agreeing to demand for a bonus that will equal 5.7 months pay, Nikkei
says, noting that the union didn’t ask for salary increases as well
amid a still uncertain economic outlook.
