Halifax: UK House Prices Fall O.4% On Month In May
–House Prices Down 0.4% m/m In May; Up 6.9% 3m y/y
LONDON (MNI) – UK house prices saw their second consecutive monthly
decline in May, falling by 0.4% after a 0.1% decline in April, according
to the latest Halifax survey.
The rival May Nationwide survey out Thursday showed house prices up
0.5% on the month, and there has been no clear pattern in the recent
house price surveys.
“The mixed pattern of monthly price rises so far this year is
consistent with a slowing market and is in line with our view that house
prices will be flat during 2010 as a whole,” Martin Ellis, the bank’s
housing economist said.
On the Halifax series, house prices were up 6.9% on a 3 month
year-on-year basis.
