With oil prices at all time highs, President Obama has sent a letter to Congress saying it should pass legislation that would end subsides to oil and gas companies to explore for new sources of domestic energy.
I’d be cool with that so long as the end farm subsides and all other forms of corporate welfare, not just ungroovy ones on unfavored energy sources.
Would Obama use the added revenue to lower the deficit? Nope. More windmills and unicorn farms…
What is this really all about? Having the issue. Being able to scream that those meanies in Congress continue to subsides the evil oil companies…yawn. A smart Republican can make the case that Obama wants to hinder domestic drilling at a time of record prices…See, two can play at this game, Mr. President.
