TOKYO (MNI) – The value of construction orders received by the 50 largest
contractors in Japan fell 13.8% in October from a year earlier to Y628.3
billion, the first decline in five months, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure,
Transport and Tourism said on Friday.

The breakdown for the latest month follows:
— Domestic private sector: -2.0% y/y at Y433.7 billion, the first decline in
three months.
— Public sector: -39.7% y/y at Y132.9 billion, a second straight decline.
— Overseas: +13.6% y/y at Y25.3 billion, a second straight rise.
