Apparently the best way to avoid a collision between the Earth and a giant asteroid is to send up tins of white paint. By painting the asteroid white it would reflect sunlight, so altering its path through space’s vacuum enough to avoid a collision.
I vote for sending the smug presenters of those tedious home-renovation TV shows up into space to do the painting, hopefully never to return.
