Investigators believe they have identified a suspect from store security cameras, according to the Boston Globe and CNN. He is carrying, and perhaps drops, a black bag at the scene of the explosion.
They will hold a briefing at 5 pm ET (2100 GMT).
Internet sleuths have been combing images of the event and coming up with an extensive list their own suspects, based on the black bags that contained the bombs.
