Bank of Japan buy JGBs

BOJ buying JGBs:

  • 250 bn yen 1 – 3 year maturity
  • 350 bn yen 3 – 5 yrs
  • 400 bn yen 5- 10 yrs

This is more buying from the BOJ as part of their massive easing program announced in early April.

ps. As I type, USD/JPY is making another attempt at 99.00, but that level still has (barrier) option-related selling defending it. I’m punting that the dam breaks and we get through 99.00

  1. I don’t know, Eamonn — it keeps trying, but can’t hold it just yet. 13725/13730 is pretty tough to bust in the Nikkei right now (you know those indicators I love). But of course, China will tell us a lot real soon :)

(is anyone forgetting the Nuclear danger that’s ongoing BTW ?)

    Cheers !

  2. Hi Franck – i was looking at your site trend-vantage, nice work

  3. AUD/JPY making a run for the 89.85 – 90 resistance.

We might actually make it there if yen weakness continues into NY close tomorrow

  5. I had the egg ready to apply to my face if we didn’t :-D

  6. Don’t you love it when we’re both right ? :) Let me know if you ever want to give these things a (free) spin! You / Forex are the BEST !

  9. Hi Sid – the barrier has gone, but there may well be other option expiry interest at 99.00 (though I haven’t heard of it)
