Update: corrects the headline

Harry Reid said a bipartisan vote to authorize limited military strikes in Syria will take place on Wednesday.

John Kerry was on London today talking about the US plans, saying that Syria could turn over its chemical weapons in a week but he wa. Then the US State Department backtracked, saying that was simply a rhetorical argument.

“We will be able to hold Bashar al-Assad accountable without engaging in troops on the ground or any other prolonged kind of effort in a very limited, very targeted, short-term effort that degrades his capacity to deliver chemical weapons without assuming responsibility for Syria’s civil war. That is exactly what we are talking about doing – unbelievably small, limited kind of effort.”

The last part is the important one. Even if the bombs fall, it will be a weak effort and despite Syrian threats, they’re not crazy enough to respond.

Speak of Assad and Kerry, here’s a pic from 2009 when they were buddies. They met 5 times from 2009-2011.
