Where we are at:
- Almost all civilian employees of the Defense Department have been recalled to their jobs
- Congress has voted unanimously to retroactively pay furloughed government workers. Yes, thats right, paid for not coming to work.
- The US runs out of cash on October 17 and will need to have the debt ceiling raised then.
Looking ahead:
- Congress goes on holiday, starting Monday October 14. It is likely that an agreement to raise the ceiling and reverse the shutdown will be reached on Friday, October 11, before the congressmen jet off on their holidays.
