Says deputy fin min on the launch of the 2014 draft budget forecast

  • see economy expanding by 0.6% next year
  • unemployment to fall to 26%
  • primary budget surplus at 1.6% of GDP
  • fiscal deficit at 2.4% of GDP
  • public debt at 174.5%
  • will aim to return to bond markets second H2 2014

The upbeat forecast shows Greece next year emerging from six years of recession which has seen the economy shrink by 25%.

The govt is also targetting a primary budget surplus after posting a small one for 2013.

Let’s hope the projections become reality, but the jury will remain well and truly out.
