So do the governments of Spain, Italy, France and Hong Kong says the 2014 Edelman Trust barometer.

Trust in the US powers that be fell 16 points to 37% and 7 points below the global average. They didn’t come bottom of the “sucks” table as the countries listed above came out worse. Spain sucked to the tune of 14%, Italy 18% and France 20%.

In the list of what caused the suckiness in the States, the budget circus between Democrats and Republicans led the Edward Snowden spying saga followed by the roll out of Obamacare and the technical difficulties that happened. The US hit a new low after not being so sucky in 2008 & 2009 said Richard Edelman, who heads US public relations for the survey commissioners.

“In 2008 and 2009, it was a case of government to the rescue and everybody said government saved the day. That raised expectations – but then you get crushed. There is almost despair in some aspects of government. How does a computer system not work for healthcare? That is just a competence question,” he told Reuters.

Full details of the survey can be found here.

For a straw poll, just how much do you think the US government sucks? On a scale of 1-10 with 1 being the suckiness of a gold fish and 10 being a Dyson vacuum cleaner.
