- The volume of world trade rose in January following two straight months of decline
- A rise in exports from and imports to developed economies helped offset a continued decline in Asian flows
- Volume of exports and imports rose 0.6% in January m/m (having fallen by 0.5% in December 2013)
- A 0.9% rise in imports to and exports from developed economies
- Imports to and exports from developing Asian economies fell by 0.1% and 0.3%, respectively.
- The changes in trade patterns may reflect a shift in the drivers of economic growth – i.e developed economies making a bigger contribution in recent quarters
