The Office for National Statistics is having to re-write the books to take account of new EU statistical rules and other changes reports Reuters. In september the 2009 GDP number will be revised up around 4.6% and the revisions from 1997-2009 will be around 3.6%.

Aside from estimating illegal drug sales and prostitution, to comply with EU rules, the UK will also be adding other components like non-profit institutions (charities), and home owners who build their own homes.

I think I’ll take the day off when all those figure come out
