Central banker press conferences are the financial world’s version of the catwalk. You get these hot models, like Draghi, Kuroda, and Yellen struttin’ their stuff.
A focal point in Japan, for instance, is the colour of the tie worn by Bank of Japan (BOJ) Governor Kuroda at press conferences (I referred to it, here: How often does this happen? Just as an indicator becomes popular … it loses its usefulness):
Yesterday, at his post BOJ announcement press conference, the first thing reported on was the colour of Kuroda’s tie … a nice light-blue, which, its said, indicated a light-hearted, optimistic mood.
