Merkel is ramping up her rhetoric about the simmering problems in Eastern Ukraine. She says that if no progress is made on any of the points of the Ukraine peace plan then officials are prepared to take ‘severe measures’. She said the progress on a truce is ‘not satisfactory’.
It’s a fresh risk for the weekend and next week but I don’t think Russia, or markets, are overly concerned.
