And so we move on to the big one. The greatest sporting final on the planet. For the yanks, a World championship that actually includes the rest of the world

;-)

Back in the day a simple system of spies were used to gain important info from the opposition camp ahead of big games but technology has taken over from that now.

The Germans have tech’d up large in their bid for the World Cup trophy and have enlisted the help of German software giant SAP AG to develop a tool that analyses huge amounts of player performance data.

Aside from using it to gauge the performance of German players they are also using the system to analyse the opposition.

The system has so far helped the Germans speed up their play by cutting down players ball possession time from 3.4 seconds to around 1.1 seconds and it can plot a defensive shadow to show how much of an area a player can cover with his body.

Technological analysis in football is very big now, especially in football. Sam Allardyce, the manager of my team West Ham, was quite a pioneer in bringing such analysis into English football and it’s something I’ve seen work for real. My team is now able to be rubbish much more consistently and for longer than ever before.

As for the Germans and the final, It’s the closest Europe is going to get to some sort of success in 2014

;-)

And yes I am still bitter over England’s performance

;-)

Yes, the ball was over the line
