  • The Japanese government will likely report weak production in its monthly economic report for August
  • The report is to be released Tuesday
  • The government “viewed the slowdown back in July as a temporary reaction to the surge in consumption right before the tax went up. It will revise the language in the August report to reflect the more persistent nature of the trend”
  • Will leave its overall assessment of the economy unchanged from July
