Spain’s industry minister Jose Manuel Soria has said that an independent Scotland would be bad for the Scots and would mean international isolation, and a yes vote would leave the Scots outside of the EU.

He also said that August was the best month in the history of Spanish tourism.

Spain has companies in the telecoms, finance and energy industries in Scotland so he’s obviously looking out for those interests and I’m sure there’s more than a passing comment intended for Catalonia.

Also on the wires is foreign minister Jose Manuel Garcia-Margallo speaking in Madrid. He’s also against Scottish independence, funnily enough. He says a yes vote would set a terrible precedent for for Spain as well as being bad for Scotland and England.

“It would set a precedent that runs counter to the EU spirit of integration” he says.

Sounds like a load of cobblers to me and just another Catalan warning. Over 500,000 people took part in a demonstration in Catalonia last week which was sparked off by the Scottish vote.
