New Zealand Prime Minister John Key won his third consecutive term and will have total control over parliament.

The tally isn’t quite final but the National coalition has 61 seats in the 121-seat parliament along with four seats from its coalition partners.

The result was expected but there is always a bit of an uncertainty discount in a currency ahead of an election so we should see some mild NZD strength once trading gets underway.
