Two days ago it looked like the Catalonian independence vote might not go ahead after the Constitutional Court ruled the vote illegal. But Catalan government spokesman Francesc Homs just appeared on television to say the Nov 9 vote will go ahead.

Earlier, he met with leaders of the three parties that support his plan for the vote and said the region government will “keep the degree so that citizens can participate and exercise their right to vote on Nov 9.”

Separately, a poll showed 70.8% of Catalans in favor of independence today.

The story is adding to pressure on the euro. EUR/USD is at a two-year low at 1.2534.
