MNI reporting

The first Populus post-conference poll doesn’t make such pretty reading for PM Cameron, with the headline figures showing Labour +2 at 38%, Conservatives down 1 at 33%, LibDems on 8 and UKIP on 13. The results are a sharp contract to the earlier YouGov poll that showed the Tories in a 35%/34% lead over Labour – the first in a YouGov poll since March 2012.

The polling was taking in the 24 hours after the Cameron speech (at the Conservative Party conference on Wedneday), the same period as the YouGov poll.

It’s not anything new to see a govt behind in polls after a period in office but this has to be a bit disappointing for Dave the Rave given the lack of quality opposition.

Still, he’s got a few months left ( May 2015) to turn it around. Mind you he might have to explain a few times before then why the pound’s so under pressure ( relatively speaking ofc ) if the UK is doing so great, as he and Boy George keep telling us.
