Manual Valls is in London and he’s not too pleased with our press.

  • Says UK and France are facing similar challenges
  • Too often sees many attacks on France in UK press (
    ;-)
    )
  • Says France needs to focus on economic growth
  • Wants France to be the first European economic powerhouse
  • France has the resources to boost and reform economy
  • Wants to restore competitiveness of French business
  • France has been living beyond its means for too long
  • There are too many taxes in France, 75% tax won’t exist from 2015
  • Wants museums to be open 7 days a week
  • Rejoices that Scotland stayed in UK and wants UK to stay in EU
  • Says monetary and forex policies must stimulate economies
  • Says ECB took an important step

Shops and museums opening 7 days a week, competitive French business, all things that will struggle against the unions and their 35 hour work week. Add in drunk rail workers, loads of taxes, missing EU targets etc etc and I think his dream of becoming Europe’s “economic powerhouse” is nothing but a fantasy.
