MNI reporting this latest development in the on-going “are they really telling the truth” debate

Chinese regulators have sent a team to Guangdong province in southern China to investigate reasons behind a surge in precious metal exports in September, the China Business News reports.

The move came after market operators raised concerns about possible abuses in China’s current account data through higher-than-expected export growth last month. The paper said September precious metal exports soared around 678% y/y to $10.8 billion, contributing five percentage points to the 15.3% y/y export growth.
