Actually, we should have moved there five years ago to beat the rush. Norway has been ranked the most prosperous country in the world for the 6th year running according to a global prosperity report by the Legatum Institute.

Some highlights from the report;

  • The Swiss and New Zealand rank 2 & 3
  • Russia has fallen the most in Europe
  • Canada has the highest life satisfaction levels, Syria the worst
  • Singapore had the biggest rise in GDP per capita, Greece the biggest fall
  • US gains 7 places on the economy sub index, ranks 10th overall
  • China is 6th on economics but 54th on overall prosperity
  • UK offers the 3rd lowest start up costs
  • Austria, Finland and Netherlands are the only eurozone countries in the top 10

Out of all the majors, the US has seen the least change in prosperity over the last 5 years. It looks to be a fair reflection of the the real sentiment on Main St compared to what we gauge from the data.
