Is it just me or does it seem hardly a day goes by without a Bank of Japan (BOJ) meeting?

The last one was on October 31 (more easing!) and today the next one finishes.

I did a preview of this meeting and the expected announcement, here.

“But,” you may ask yourself, “What time is the announcement scheduled for?”

Well, here’s the thing … there is no scheduled time for the conclusion of the meeting and subsequent monetary policy statement. The more there is to discuss and debate, the longer the meeting tends to go … but with no change expected this time around I expect the announcement earlier rather than later. Look for it some time between 0230-0330GMT, but be ready for it outside that window.

Following on from the announcement Bank of Japan Governor Kuroda will give a press conference. This does have a scheduled time … 0630GMT. I got a bit of a giggle from the economic calendar I checked this on – it says that Kuroda talks about policy, economy … and adds in brackets … (in Japanese). Quite ….

ps. Did everyone see Ryan’s post last night with the outcome of Abe’s announcements yesterday?

Abe calls Japanese election, here’s what he plans to do

One thing to note (and that Ryan did) is Abe has not yet set a date for the election. Media speculation centres on December 14 as the most likely date. Clear your engagements!
