If you like seasonals, you might not like sterling in December.

Over the past 10 years, December has been the worst month on average for cable, falling 0.85%. The trend, however, failed in 2012 and 2013 as cable gained 1.51% and 1.15%, respectively. If you go back another 10-years — from 1994-2003 — cable was the second best performer with only one losing month.

After a strong start to the month yesterday, sterling has given up virtually all the gains today.
