Let me take a moment to wish you all a Merry “Little” Christmas/A Merry Little Day.

Christmas to me, has gotten more than little with the increased commercialization of what should be a magical season.

For me, I think it is important to make Christmas smaller – to make it a little more… little.

For me Christmas is a time for the friends and family near to us, to gather and share good food, good drink and good times. It is a time to get in touch with those who are not so close, and share joy, and a story. It is a time to make the heart a little more light and happy.

Christmas is a time to remember those who have died. Death is part of life. It is the fate we have to accept – despite the pain it brings. However, one of the greatest gifts I do have, is the gift of the memories. Those memories can be as vivid as looking at real gifts under a tree. Thankfully, those memories will stay with me for my lifetime. So Christmas is a time for me to remember and say a little prayer of thanks to those who shared, shaped and provided me with the little memories which are most important to me.

Christmas is a time to focus on the good. Too often I find it easy to focus on the not so good. That is a choice I can control. Troubles can be miles away. It does not take much to make that little choice. Christmas reminds me of that fact.

These are some of the little things that is Christmas to me. It seems so easy. Perhaps that is the lesson. If everyday was a little like Christmas, it wouldn’t be such a big single day, but instead be a little more…little.

Have a Merry Little Christmas/A Merry Little Day.

Peace on earth. Goodwill toward all men and women.

Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Let your heart be light
From now on
Our troubles will be out of sight

Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Make the Yuletide gay
From now on
Our troubles will be miles away

Here we are as in olden days
Happy golden days of yore
Faithful friends who are dear to us
Gather near to us once more

Through the years
We all will be together
If the Fates allow
Hang a shining star
Upon the highest bough
And have yourself
A merry little Christmas now

Peace on Earth
