We’ve had the data releases from NZ already today, New Zealand December Building Consents (Permits): -2.1% m/m (prior +10.0%)
And starting at 2330GMT (not the regulat 2350GMT we’ve come to expect out of Japan) we get Plenty of data due from Japan today – CPI, industrial production
Later, due at 0030GMT we get data from Australia:
Q4 PPI:
- For the q/q, prior was 0.2%
- For the y/y, prior was 1.2%
The recent Q4 inflation data showed a stronger than expected result on the trimmed mean (the measure the RBA pay most attention to in these figures), resulting in a run on the short-sellers’ stop losses, before a fresh tumble on Wednesday evening (Australian time). Today we’ll get a look at the PPI. These figures only come out once a quarter in Australia.
We also get Private Sector Credit for December:
For the m/m,
- expected is 0.5%, prior was 0.5%
For the y/y
- expected is 5.9%, prior was 5.9%
