She adds:
  • Economic expansion firmly in place
  • Labor markets are strong
  • Legitimate to study alternative inflation targeting frameworks though not endorsing a change
  • inflation expectations reasonably anchored at 2%
  • Mester does not comment on rate hikes or US tax policy in prepared remarks
Mester is the president of the Cleveland Fed.  She will be a voting member on the FOMC board in 2018.
