Lighthizer speaking to a House committee

Friday is the 'deadline' to impose US sanctions on steel and aluminum but it appears as though very few countries with meaningful exports will be getting hit.

Lighthizer said countries negotiating exemptions will be given temporary waivers while negotiations continue. Among the countries talking to the US are: Australia, Argentina, Brazil, South Korea and the entire EU.

As for wrapping up talks this week? Forget about it. Lighthizer said talks will 'hopefully' conclude by the end of April.
