We all only have 24 hours a day, but without realising it, we're actually surrounded by technology

How much time do you spend at your work desk during the day? How often do you check your Facebook/Instagram/Gmail? How much time do you spend watching TV?

We spend most of our time either working or on leisure activities - and it's these two areas that tech companies are focusing their products on.

Bloomberg estimates that Google gets $152 from each North American user per year. So the greater your exposure to Google each day, the more valuable you are as a customer. The same for Facebook, which gets about $78 a year per user.

And the crazy thing is that there's still so much more unexploited opportunity that tech companies are still looking to explore. They're talking about travel time and your sleeping time.

That's why so many of these companies are looking at self-driving cars - so you could have the time to be exposed to their other products.

Apple also recently acquired Beddit, the maker of a $150 sleep monitor. With a sleep product, Apple would have an offering to cover just about everything a typical person does over 24 hours.

It's pretty crazy if you think about it. But it also shows how much we do rely on technology these days in our day-to-day activities.
