Japanese trade minister says they could be exempted from US tariffs

Some comments from Japanese trade minister Hiroshige Seko earlier

Says that there is a high possibility that Japan would be exempted from US tariffs on steel and aluminium. He adds that Japanese steel makers were encouraging their US clients to apply for exemptions as well.

Seko also mentions that Japanese steel and aluminium products contributed greatly to the US industry and that they were irreplaceable.

The exemptions sought by Japan would be on a per-item basis, he says.
