Nasdaq leads the way to the downside with a decline of -1.02%

The major US stock indices are ending the day with declines. The market felt the weight of Washington including the firings (highlighted by Secretary of State Tillerson) and word of the potential for more tariffs on China. Trade war fear is not good for stocks.

The summary of the major indices is showing at the close:

  • S&P index fell -17.71 points or -0.64% at 2765.31
  • Nasdaq fell -77.313 points or -1.02% at 7511.01
  • Dow fell -171.58 points or -0.68% at 25007.03.

On Friday and again on Monday, the Nasdaq had record closes. Not today.

For the S&P, the 50 day MA is at 2745.52 (white MA line on the chart below). The price remains above that MA. So the buyers are remaining more in control.
