President Trump signs Martin Luther King Proclamation
Comes on the back of derogatory comments yesterday
In a bipartisan meeting on immigration yesterday, the President questioned why the US should accept immigrants from "shithole countries," referring to Haiti, El Salvador, and African nations. That makes the signing of the proclamation - which should be a moment of positive and thankful reflection on Martin Luther King and what he stood for - somewhat tainted (to say the least).
Today in a tweet Trump denied using the derogatory term:
In other Trump news, he is canceling his trip to London because Obama moved the embassy. I get the feeling that PM May might have breathed a sigh of relief. PS Pres Bush authorized the change of venue apparently, but I guess it is hard to change bad habits.
