No surprise
South African's President Jacob Zuma in a televised speech is saying he is compelled to resign by party motion.
He adds:
- He will continue to serve South Africa's ANC
- He serves as president at bidding of ANC
- He is not above reproach
- He respects constitution and its consequences
- I must accept that if my party wishes that I be removed from office they must exercise that right and do so in the manner prescribed by the Constitution
- I do not fear of no-confidence motion
- He served South Africa to the best of his ability
- Says there is a need for a period of leadership transition
After dancing around he has said:
- I have come to the decision to resign
- He disagrees with decision of ANC leadership
