No surprise

South African's President Jacob Zuma in a televised speech is saying he is compelled to resign by party motion.
He adds:

  • He will continue to serve South Africa's ANC
  • He serves as president at bidding of ANC
  • He is not above reproach
  • He respects constitution and its consequences
  • I must accept that if my party wishes that I be removed from office they must exercise that right and do so in the manner prescribed by the Constitution
  • I do not fear of no-confidence motion
  • He served South Africa to the best of his ability
  • Says there is a need for a period of leadership transition

After dancing around he has said:

  • I have come to the decision to resign
  • He disagrees with decision of ANC leadership
