Trudeau to appear on CNBC later

CNBC's Deirdre Bosa will interview Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at 2:10 pm ET today (1810 GMT). The topic will surely be US threats to impose tariffs and NAFTA negotiations. Expect the usual tough talk on trade, similar to Canadian trade minister Chrystia Freeland, who said on the weekend that Canada won't be pressured into any deal.

Elsewhere in Canadian politics... on the weekend the brother of famed crack-smoking Toronto mayor Rob Ford won the leadership of the party that's leading the polls in Ontario, which is Canada's biggest province.
