Broader indices doing better

The major US indices are opening higher, with the Dow 30 lagging. Amex and IBM, who announced earnings after the close yesterday or dragging that index lower.

  • The S&P index is up 6.4 points or 0.22%
  • The NASDAQ index is up 20 points or 0.27%
  • The Dow is up 5 points or 0.03%

Amazon announced a price increase for their prime service of 18.2%. Their stock is higher by 1.09%.

American Express announced earnings yesterday that disappointed in this trading down -2.58%.

IBM also announced at the close in their stock is currently trading down -2.69%.

  • Nvidia up 1.975%
  • Celgene of 0.85%
  • Caterpillar of 0.92%
  • Facebook up 0.7%

On the downside:

  • Twitter -0.71%

  • Broadcom -1.06%
  • Schlumberger (also announced today) down -1.34%
  • Delta air -0.45%

Potential government shutdown is not a making a big impact...at least on the opening.
