First President to attend since Clinton in 2000

Next week, President Trump is expected to attend the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. It will be the first US president to attend the event since Bill Clinton in 2000.

He will not be the only major nation leader speaking. Germany's Merkel, UK's PM May and France's President Macron will each be speaking as well.

In his speech it is expected that he will urge the world to invest in the United States and take advantage of his new regulatory and tax cut policies. He also is expected to promote - and stress - his "America First" agenda, and to encourage fairer and more reciprocal trade between nations.

It is widely believed that Trumps Team encouraged him not to attend, but the President wanted to go and call attention to the rising growth in the United States and the soaring stock market.

I am not all that sure he will be welcomed with open arms. Trump is continually harping on trade deficits (and unfair trade practices), he longs to bring back US manufacturing to the US, and his tax reform policy is intended to bring money stuck in Europe, back to the US where it can be invested on the domestic turf.

Trump is scheduled to speak on Friday. Merkel and Macron, are scheduled for Wednesday. PM May is scheduled for Thursday.
