White House is said to consider Richard Clarida for Fed vice chair job

Also believed to be considering Lawrence Lindsey for the job

A WSJ report says that the White House has interviewed both persons to serve as vice chair on the Fed board, according to people familiar with the matter.

Richard Clarida is a managing director at Pimco's New York office, while Lawrence Lindsey previously served as a top economic advisor to George W. Bush from 2001 to 2002. Lindsey also served as a governor on the Fed's board from 1991 to 1997.

Clarida appeared on Bloomberg TV earlier in the month and this was his comments on the Fed's policies for 2018:

"We could get four hikes if the growth in the economy is stronger because of the tax cuts, but importantly we also need some indication that inflation is moving up".
