As the North American traders enter for the day, the EUR and USD are the strongest while the NZD is the weakest.

Both the EUR and the USD are up on the day with the EURUSD leading the charge as THE strongest, but the USD is not too far behind, only falling against EUR.

IN fact the EURUSD trading range at 27 pips is non-trending and well below the 22 day average of 72 pips. So there is a lot of room to roam. The GBPUSD, USDJPY, USDCHF, AUDUSD and NZDUSD are all trading at extremes (dollar higher). So the greenback is on the move to the upside in early NY trading.

IN other markets, the snapshot shows:

  • Spot gold is down -$5.00 to $1277.01
  • WTI crude oil is trading up $0.28 to $52.18. The contract remains comfortably above the $50 level
  • US yields are higher with the 2 year at 1.5769%, up 1.3 bp. 5 year 2.0305%, up 3.3 bp. 10 year at 2.408%, up 4.1 bp and the 30 year at 2.9267%, up 4.3 bps
  • US pre-market stocks are higher with the Dow futures up 125 points. Nasdaq futures up 10.25 points and the S&P index up 4.25 points. Caterpillar earnings beat and is leading the charge higher (up $8.50 in pre-market trading).
